Leaving The Love Ones

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

One week before my husband and me went for Hajj I could hardly sleep thinking about leaving our children for the very first time. I was so worried but Alhamdulillah friends advised me not to worries and just leave my affair to Allah and put my trust in Him.

Finding the one who would care for our children was not easy. It took us some time thinking who would be the best person to look after our children. I asked my sister who once told me that if I go Hajj she would look after them, but she could not do it for some reasons. She was suggested that may be her daughter can substitute her, but we have no confident on her.

Alhamdulillah, at last we decided that my husband mother will care the children. When we told her that Insha Allah we will be going to Makkah this year, she was so happy for us. And she said big yes when we asked her if she would care for her grandchildren. Masha Allah we were so relieved that our children will be look after by their grandmother. Alhamdulillah, a visa was granted to my mother in law 2 weeks before we supposed to go to Makkah.

Alhamdulillah, I also planned for some sisters to help taking Muja for her therapies. May Allah reward the sisters with good for their willingness to help us. They were great carer, Masha Allah.

Alhamdulillah, a few weeks before we leaving we heard a good news that my brother in law and his family will come to Perth for good. Allah sent us another help from family member, and I was so grateful.

Masha Allah the day we leaving for Makkah was the saddest day for me. I was so happy that Allah has invited us to His House but leaving the children behind was so hard. I could see that it was difficult for my children as well, but Insha Allah with Allah help they will be in good hands.

At the airport my children eyes were wet and red. Mine was worst. I hugged them liked it's going to be my last time with them. It was so hard for me and them as well. My husband has to pull me from my children, saying Bismillah we are going and we kept walking and never look back while chanting Labbaik Allahuma Labbaik...

Hajj Mabrur, Insha Allah.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Kaabah or also known as Makkah

Alhamdulillah, I had the most amazing hajj journey 1428/2007 from 2nd December to 27th of December this year. All praise be to Allah, who took me to Makkah, the place where Prophet Ibrahim alaihi salam leave his wife and son by the order of Allah, to perform Hajj with my dear husband. I was amazed at his faith to Allah with the hardships travelling through the rocky mountains of Makkah by foot while here I am travelling in an airconditioned bus and still felt difficulty of the journey.

Alhamdulilah we were invited to the House of Allah, Kaabah, built by two faithful Prophets of Allah Ibrahim and Ismail alaihi salam. It was an amazing experience when I set my eyes on the Kaabah for the very first time. I can't explained the feeling of peace and tranquility every time I stepped my feet inside the Masjid ul Haram and looking at the Kaabah. Alhamdulillah, there were no words that I could describe my feeling being through the hajj journey. I guess ones have to experience herself to fell it.

Subhana Allah, I was so fortunate to be among the other Hujaj performing Hajj and visited the Prophet's Masjid. It was a privilege praying in Raudah, a piece of Jannah in the Prophet's Masjid. Being in that masjid remind me of the sacrificed the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasalam went through when spreading the deen of Islam. He was an amazing man, that Allah sent to humankind, the best example for us. I was so fortunate to come closer to the resting place of our prophet and have the opportunity to send salam to him as close as I could be to him.

My hajj journey is my hijrah, to practice Islam slowly but steadily according to the Qur'an and the sunnah of our prophet sallallahu alaihi wasalam.

Insha Allah, if there is time I would write more about my amazing journey.

Cerebral palsy deaths unrelated to centre practices: report

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Taken from perthnow

December 14, 2007 10:55am

AN independent report has found practices at Perth's Centre for Cerebral Palsy were not to blame for 17 deaths since 2001, the WA government said.

A nine-person inquiry committee conducted an investigation following complaints from families over the deaths of the cerebral palsy sufferers at the centre.

Disability Services Minister Sheila McHale today said the committee's report concluded the deaths were not preventable and did not reflect a lack of care.

''(It) found that these people required very high levels of support and had complex medical issues,'' Ms McHale said in a statement.

However, the review did find problems at the centre and recommended immediate reforms.

"The review found the organisation has some substantial problems, particularly with clinical and management practices and the presence of a poor organisational culture,'' Ms McHale said.

"These problems will remain unless decisive action is taken by the board and management team.''

The centre's incoming board chairman Keith Chapman has told the minister all the report's recommendations will be implemented as a matter of urgency, Ms McHale said.

Ms McHale said the review acknowledged TCCP had implemented a series of reforms to improve the level of clinical care over the past 12 months.

WA's Disability Services Commission is currently developing a new monitoring system for standards in disability services.

“I am assured by Disability Services Commission director general Ron Chalmers that his agency has been developing a new, highly rigorous monitoring system and that this system will be designed to be the best in the nation,” Ms McHale said.

“I am aware of the challenges of providing support for people with profound disabilities at a time when attracting and retaining appropriately skilled staff is getting harder,” she said.

2007 soon comes to the end.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Masha Allah soon come the end of 2007. Subhana Allah I was so busy about this life. Above that the syaitan made me forget about hereafter. So much of this world that I am afraid, I will the loser in the hereafter. I know I didn't do much good deeds but when I did them, I promised that they were solely for the pleasing of Allah.

This year has been wonderful. What a life? I was going through ups and downs like riding on a roller coaster, Masha Allah. Subhana Allah what an experience Allah had planned for me. And I love all of them. Alhamdulillah for all the trials especially during the hard ones when I broke my tears and put my trust in Allah to deal with the affairs. Alhamdulillah, I felt the strength Allah gave to me to moved on with this life. There is no power except with Allah.

With those experience I was pushed to think twice about my purpose of life. Not that I didn't know my purpose but to review whether it has been accomplished or not. There was a time when I asked Allah if He was going to test my patience like He tested His prophet, Ayyub. I learnt that I was so at peace when I have done everything to only please Allah.

May Allah make we live according to His wills and make we die in Islam only, Ameen.

Definition of the evil eye, and ways of protecting oneself against it and treating it

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Question:
What is the evil eye? I've seen this terminology been used so many time on this webpage. Can you please explain in detail?.

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.

These follow some information and fatwas that have to do with the evil eye. We ask Allaah to benefit readers thereby.

The scholars of the Standing Committee were asked:

What is the definition of the evil eye? Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And from the evil of the envier when he envies”

[al-Falaq 113:5]

Is the hadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saheeh in which it says that “One third of those who are in the grave are there because of the evil eye”? If a person thinks that someone is envying him, what should the Muslim do and say? If the person who put the evil eye on someone washes himself, will the water he used bring healing to his victim? And should he drink the water or wash himself with it?

They replied:

The Arabic word al-‘ayn (translated as the evil eye) refers to when a person harms another with his eye. It starts when the person likes a thing, then his evil feelings affect it, by means of his repeated looking at the object of his jealousy. Allaah commanded His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to seek refuge with Him from the envier, as He said (interpretation of the meaning):

“And from the evil of the envier when he envies”

[al-Falaq 113:5]

Everyone who puts the evil eye on another is envious, but not every envier puts the evil eye on another. The word haasid (envier) is more general in meaning than the word ‘aa’in (one who puts the evil eye on another), so seeking refuge with Allaah from the one who envies includes seeking refuge with Him from the one who puts the evil eye on another. The evil eye is like an arrow which comes from the soul of the one who envies and the one who puts the evil eye on another towards the one who is envied and on whom the evil eye is put; sometimes it hits him and sometimes it misses. If the target is exposed and unprotected, it will affect him, but if the target is cautious and armed, the arrow will have no effect and may even come back on the one who launched it.

Adapted from Zaad al-Ma’aad.

There are ahaadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) which speak of the effects of the evil eye. For example it is narrated in al-Saheehayn that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to tell me to recite ruqyah for protection against the evil eye.

Muslim, Ahmad and al-Tirmidhi narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The evil eye is real and if anything were to overtake the divine decree, it would be the evil eye. When you are asked to take a bath (to provide a cure) from the influence of the evil eye, you should take a bath.” This was classed as saheeh by al-Tirmidhi, and also by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 1251.

Imam Ahmad and al-Tirmidhi (2059, where he classed it as saheeh) narrated that Asma’ bint ‘Umays said: “O Messenger of Allaah, the children of Ja’far have been afflicted by the evil eye, shall we recite ruqyah for them?” He said, “Yes, for if anything were to overtake the divine decree it would be the evil eye.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

Abu Dawood narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The person who had put the evil eye on another would be ordered to do wudoo’, then the person who had been afflicted would wash himself (with that water). This was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

Imam Ahmad (15550), Maalik (1811), al-Nasaa’i and Ibn Hibbaan narrated from Sahl ibn Haneef that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came out and traveled with him towards Makkah, until they were in the mountain pass of al-Kharaar in al-Jahfah. There Sahl ibn Haneef did ghusl, and he was a handsome white-skinned man with beautiful skin. ‘Aamir ibn Rabee’ah, one of Banu ‘Adiyy ibn Ka’b looked at him whilst he was doing ghusl and said: “I have never seen such beautiful skin as this, not even the skin of a virgin,” and Sahl fell to the ground. They went to Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came and said, “O Messenger of Allaah, can you do anything for Sahl, because by Allaah he cannot raise his head.” He said, “Do you accuse anyone with regard to him?” They said, “ ‘Aamir ibn Rabee’ah looked at him.” So the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) called ‘Aamir and rebuked him strongly. He said, “Why would one of you kill his brother? If you see something that you like, then pray for blessing for him.” Then he said to him, “Wash yourself for him.” So he washed his face, hands, forearms, knees and the sides of his feet, and inside his izaar (lower garment) in the vessel. Then that water was poured over him, and a man poured it over his head and back from behind. He did that to him, then Sahl got up and joined the people and there was nothing wrong with him.

Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Mishkaat, 4562.

The majority of scholars are of the view that people can indeed be afflicted by the evil eye, because of the ahaadeeth quoted above and others, and because of the corroborating reports and other evidence.

With regard to the hadeeth that you mention, “One third of those who are in the grave are there because of the evil eye,” we do not know how sound it is, but the author of Nayl al-Awtaar said that al-Bazzaar narrated with a hasan isnaad from Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Most of those who die among my ummah die because of the will and decree of Allaah, and then because of the evil eye.”

The Muslim has to protect himself against the devils among the evil jinn and mankind, by having strong faith in Allaah and by putting his trust in Him and seeking refuge with Him and beseeching Him, reciting the prayers for protection narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), reciting al-Mi’wadhatayn [the last two soorahs of the Qur’aan], Soorat al-Ikhlaas, Soorat al-Faatihah, and Aayat al-Kursi.

Du’aa’s for protection include the following:

A’oodhu bi kalimaat-illaah il-taammati min sharri ma khalaqa (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allaah from the evil of that which He has created).

A’oodhu bi kalimaat-illaah il-taammati min ghadabihi wa ‘iqaabihi, wa min sharri ‘ibaadihi wa min hamazaat al-shayaateeni wa an yahduroon (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allaah from His wrath and punishment, from the evil of His slaves and from the evil promptings of the devils and from their presence).

And one may recite the words of Allaah:

“Hasbi Allaahu laa ilaaha illa huwa, ‘alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa Rabb ul-‘arsh il-‘azeem

(Allaah is sufficient for me. Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne)”
[al-Tawbah 9:129 – interpretation of the meaning]

And there are other similar du’aa’s that are prescribed in sharee’ah. This is what was meant by Ibn al-Qayyim in the words quoted at the beginning of this answer.

If it is known or suspected that a person has been afflicted by the evil eye, then the one who put the evil eye on him should be ordered to wash himself for his brother. So a vessel of water should be brought, and he should put his hand in it, rinse out his mouth into the vessel. Then he should wash his face in the vessel, then put his left hand into the vessel and wash his right knee, then put his right hand in the vessel and wash his left knee. Then he should wash inside his garment. Then the water should be poured over the head of the one on whom he put the evil eye, pouring it from behind in one go. Then he will be healed, by Allaah’s leave.

Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah li’l-Buhooth al-‘Ilmiyyah wa’l-Ifta, 1/186

Shaykh Muhammad al-Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen was asked:

Can the evil eye afflict a person? How is it treated? Does being on one's guard against it contradict putting one's trust in Allaah?

He replied:

Our opinion concerning the evil eye is that it is real and is proven both by Islamic teachings and by real life experiences. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And verily, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes (through hatred)”

[al-Qalam 68:51]

Ibn ‘Abbaas and others said, commenting on this verse: this means, they put the evil eye on you with their glances. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The evil eye is real and if anything were to overtake the divine decree, it would be the evil eye. When you are asked to take a bath (to provide a cure) from the influence of the evil eye, you should take a bath.” Narrated by Muslim. Al-Nasaa’i and Ibn Maajah narrated that ‘Aamir ibn Rabee’ah passed by Sahl ibn Haneef when he was bathing… and he quoted the hadeeth.

Reality confirms that and it cannot be denied.

In the event that you are afflicted by the evil eye, you should use the treatments recommended in sharee’ah, which are:

1 – Reciting ruqyah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “There is no ruqyah except in the case of the evil eye or fever.” al-Tirmidhi, 2057; Abu Dawood, 3884. Jibreel used to do ruqyah for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and say, “ Bismillaahi arqeeka min kulli shay’in yu’dheeka, min sharri kulli nafsin aw ‘aynin haasid Allaahu yashfeek, bismillaahi arqeek (In the name of Allaah I perform ruqyah for you, from everything that is harming you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye may Allaah heal you, in the name of Allaah I perform ruqyah for you).”

2 – Asking the person who has put the evil eye on another to wash, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded ‘Aamir ibn Rabee’ah to do in the hadeeth quoted above. Then the water should be poured over the one who has been afflicted.

With regard to taking his waste, such as his urine and stools, there is no basis for doing so; the same applies to taking any of his belongings. Rather what is narrated is that which is mentioned above, washing his limbs and washing inside his garment, or likewise washing inside his headgear and garments. And Allaah knows best.

There is nothing wrong with taking precautions against the evil eye before it happens, and this does not contradict the idea of tawakkul (putting one's trust in Allaah). In fact this is tawakkul, because tawakkul means putting one’s trust in Allaah whilst also implementing the means that have been permitted or enjoined. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to seek refuge for al-Hasan and al-Husayn and say: U’eedhukuma bi kalimaat Allaah al-taammati min kulli shaytaanin wa haammah wa min kulli ‘aynin laammah (I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allaah, from every devil and every poisonous reptile, and from every evil eye).’” Al-Tirmidhi, 2060; Abu Dawood, 4737. And he would say, “Thus Ibraaheem used to seek refuge with Allaah for Ishaaq and Ismaa’eel, peace be upon them both.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3371.

Muja Special Progress after 20 HBOT Sessions

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Masha Allah we have done 20 hyperbaric oxygen sessions at the Oasis Hyperbaric Therapy. What can I say? Muja is different. Even her therapist notices her changes. They were amazed at her muscles. Masha Allah, her muscles are so soft that she hardly spasm. I am so over the moon with her progress, Alhamdulillah.

At early stage when we do oxygen her hands are tightly across her chest and hardly moving.

For the very first time, Masha Allah, Muja can extend her hands up over the side of her head and also over her head. She can stretch them up not only when she is sleeping but also when so is sitting. Masha Allah, and not only that she is using her eyes looking at her hands when she hold her hands up on her eyes level. Allahu Akbar! More to that she is reaching the toys with her hands, Subhana Allah, La Haula Wala Quwwata Illa Billah. Glory be to Allah, there is no power except with Allah.

Her hands can now more around her sides and upwards too.

She sleep reasonably well every night, Masha Allah. Alhamdulillah, now she would go to sleep around 11 pm with only small efforts from me. She really love warm bath before sleep. When I put her to bed, she needs me to hug her and pats her a few times and read Qur'an to her before she goes to sleep. I enjoy doing the routines and she sleeps well until the morning. Alhamdulillah, I am so thankful to Allah for making our life much easier.

Judge says no settlement could compensate for boy's cerebral palsy

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Posted Thu Nov 22, 2007 11:32am AEDT

Taken from ABC News

The judge presiding over a settlement case between a Wagga Wagga woman and the Greater Southern Area Health Service over a child born with cerebral palsy has told the court no amount of money could compensate for the boy's injuries.

Kimberley Reid was given the drug misoprostol when she was in the final stages of labour in March 2001.

She has successfully sued the health service for inappropriate use of the drug and inadequate care given during labour and before her son's birth.

Joshua Reid was born with cerebral palsy and requires 24-hour care.

Justice Stephen Rothman told the Supreme Court in Wagga Wagga yesterday he is pleased both sides were able to accept a figure to meet damages involved, but no amount could compensate for the boy's injuries.

Defence counsel said Wagga Base Hospital admits responsibility and the matter is of enormous regret for everyone involved.

Outside court, Kimberley Reid said she remained very angry at the way she was treated by the hospital and said the disability Joshua was left with should never have occurred.

ELEMENTS WHICH ADULTERATE SINCERITY

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Taken from here.

Some elements confuse people regarding sincerity and make them think that they are acting out of sincerity whereas they are actually giving fuel to their own selfish desires.

Sometimes a person is in such a state that even though he may resent the idea of showing off, he feels great pleasure when his actions are mentioned and praised.

A person may showoff, not by advertising his actions but by making some gesture to suggest that he has performed some good deeds.

A person may even hide his actions but show an attitude that demands respect and honor.

A person may be offering the voluntary night prayer with great difficulty but when a guest arrives he performs them with great ease.

A person may preen at his actions and feel that he has accomplished them with great sincerity.

Sometimes the person may want to accept the invitation of someone because he knows the food at the invite will be much better than the food at his house.

Sometimes a person may visit someone who loves someone for the sake of Allah (swt) for the sole purpose of eating and drinking.

SHOWING OFF AND ITS CATEGORIES

Showing Off Physically: This is by displaying fatigue and leanness in order to show the fear of the Hereafter.

Showing Off Through Clothes: This is to wear certain specific types of attire in order to show off that he is a scholar.

Showing Off Verbally: Usually people who give religious talks and lectures are guilty of this by showing off their immense knowledge.

Showing Off Through Actions: This is like prolonging prayers, informing people of fasting and charity.

Showing Off Through Visitors and Companions: This is when a person forces his way to visit a scholar or when a person wants a religious person to visit him for the sake of vanity.

ELEMENTS THAT MAY BE DEEMED AS SHOWING OFF BUT ARE NOT

People praising someone for good.

A person deriving energy on seeking others to engage in worship.

Liking good clothes and shoes.

Not exposing sins.

Becoming popular without any efforts.

TREATING THE DISEASE OF SHOWING OFF

Realizing the Might, the Names and Attributes of Allah (swt) and knowing Tawheed as much as possible.

Only Allah (swt) benefits and harms as much as he wishes.

Allah (swt) is all seeing and hearing.

Allah (swt) is Mighty and His Might should be realized through the might of some of His creation.

Knowing the forms of punishment and bliss in the grave.

Knowing the ahadeeth that describes the punishment of Hell.

Knowing as much as possible of what Allah (swt) has prepared for the pious in Paradise.

Remembering Death and the shortness of Life.

Knowing the value of the world and the fact that it is not here forever.

Dua’a (Supplication).

Fearing that showing off will be the last phase of one’s life.

Performing good deeds without announcing them and without performing them in public.

Keeping the company of those people who may be regarded as having sincerity, goodness and piety.

Fearing the fact that one is showing off.

Running away from being condemned by Allah (swt).

Regarding the fact that Allah (swt) remembers and giving the preference to Allah (swt)
remembrance over the remembrance of people.

Knowing the Devil is repelled by (those mentioned below)

Note: Please see Sahih Al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim for the description of Paradise and Hell.

WHAT REPELS THE DEVIL

1. When a person says “Laa ilaaha illallahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa Huwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in Qadeer (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise and He is Able to do all things).” 100 times a day.

“Whoever recites this one hundred times a day will have the reward of freeing ten slaves. One hundred Hasanat (rewards) will be written for him and one hundred misdeeds will be washed away. He will be shielded from Shaytan until the evening. No one will be able to present anything better than this except for someone who has recited more than this.” (Sahih Bukhari 4/95, Sahih Muslim 4/2071)

Note:

· Evening begins after Asr’ prayer so read evening adhkar (invocations) after Asr’ prayer.
· Any adhkar (invocation) done unmindfully is without reward.

2. Reciting the Ayatul Kursi (The Verse of Kursi) at the time of sleeping

t Whoever reads this when he lies down to sleep will have a guardian from Allah remain with him and Shaytan will not be able to come near him until he rises in the morning. (Al-Bukhari, cf. Al-Asqalani, Fath Al-Bari 4/487)

Hadith: Abu Hurairah (ra) guarding amanah catching thief who turned out to be Shaytan.

Narrated Abu Hurairah (ra): Allah’s Messenger (saw) ordered me to guard the Zakat revenue of Ramdan. Then somebody came to me and started stealing of the foodstuff. I caught him and said, “I will take you to Allah’s Messenger (saw)!” Then Abu Hurairah desribed the whole narration and said: That person said (to me), “(Please don’t take me to Allah’s Messenger (saw) and I will tell you a few words by which Allah will benefit you.) When you go to your bed, recite Ayat-ul-Kursi (2:255), from then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn.” (When the Prophet (saw) heard the story) he said (to me), “He (who came to you at night) told you the truth although he is a liar; and it was Satan.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, 6/5010)

3. When a person sees something which he dislikes, he should spit on his left side three times and seek Allah’s (swt) Refuge from the evil of what he has seen

Hadith: dreams are from Allah while nightmares are from Shaytan
Abu Salamah reported that Abu Qatadah (ra) narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) saying: “A good dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan. So, if anyone of you sees (in a dream) something he dislikes, when he gets up, he should spit thrice (on his left side), and seek refuge from Allah from its evil, then it will not harm him.” (Bukhari 5747, Muslim 1516)

Hadith: telling / relating your dreams to other people

Abu Salamah: I used to see a dream which would make me sick until I heard Abu Qatadah saying, “I, too, used to see a dream which would make me sick until I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) saying, ‘A good dream is from Allah, so if you see a dream which you like, you should not tell it to anybody except to the one whom you love. And if you see a dream which you dislike, then you should seek refuge with Allah from its evil and from the evil of Satan, and spit three times (on your left) and do not tell anybody about it, then it will not harm him.’” (Bukahari 7044, Muslim 1517)

4. On leaving the house, a person should say: “Bismillahi, tawakkaltu ala Allah. Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa Billahi Ta’ala (In the Name of Allah, I have placed my trust in Allah, there is no might and power except by Allah).”
Hadith: Angel will protect and guide you, Shaytan is diverted from you.

5. Remembering Allah (swt) when entering the house and when eating
Upon entering the house say “Bismillaahi walajnaa, wa bismillahi kharajnaa, wa ‘alaa Rabbinaa tawakkalnaa (In the Name of Allah we enter, in the Name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we depend).” Then say As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum to those who are present

When anyone of you begins eating, say: “Bismillaah (In the Name of Allah).”

Hadith:
Jabir bin Abdullah (ra) narrated: I heard the Prophet (saw) saying: “If a man enters his house and mentions Allah and when he eats and says the same; the Satan says: “No room to spend the night or have food.” And if he enters without saying: “With the Name of Allah’, Satan says: “We will spend the night (here).” Then if he does not say Allah’s Name when he eats, Satan says: “We will spend the night and have food.” (Muslim 1297)

6. On entering the masjid
Hadith: being protected for the rest of the day.
Abu Humaid (or: Abu Usaid) (ra) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “When one of you enters a mosque, let him say ‘O Allah! Open for me the doors of Your mercy.’ And when he steps out, let him say: ‘O Allah! I ask for your bounty.’” (Muslim 247)

7. At the time of calling the adhan

Hadith: Shaytan running when he hears the adhan
t Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated that the Prophet (saw) said: “When the Adhan is pronounced, Satan takes to his heels and passes wind to avoid hearing the Adhan. When the Adhan is over, he comes back, and again takes to his heels when the Iqamah is pronounced and after its completion, he returns to whisper into the heart of a person (to distract him from his prayer) and makes him remember things which he does not recall before until man forgets how many Rak’ah he prayed.” (Muslim 196)

Hadith: Prophet (saw) being distracted by Shaytan during tashahud, let go of Shaytan because of the dua’a of Sulaiman (as)

Abu Darda (ra) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (saw) stood (to perform prayer) and we heard him saying: “I seek refuge with Allah from you,” then he said: “ I curse you by the curse of Allah,” (thrice), and stretched his hands as if was catching something. When he finished the prayer, we said: “O Messenger of Allah, we heard you saying something (words) in the prayer which we have not heard you say before, and we saw you stretch your hands.” He said: “The enemy of Allah, Iblis, came (to me) having a burning brand of fire to keep (it) on my face. So I said: ‘I seek refuge in Allah from you’ (three times) then I uttered three times ‘I curse you by the curse of Allah’, but he did not slip back. Then I intended to catch him. By Allah if I had not remembered the supplication of my brother Sulaiman, I would have catch him and tie him so that the boys of Al-Madinah would make fun of him.” (Muslim 306)

8. At the time of seeking refuge from the devil

tNarrated Atiyyah as-Sa'di: AbuWa'il al-Qass said: We entered upon Urwah ibn Muhammad ibn as-Sa'di. A man spoke to him and made him angry. So he stood and performed ablution; he then returned and performed ablution, and said: My father told me on the authority of my grandfather Atiyyah who reported the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) as saying: Anger comes from the devil, the devil was created of fire, and fire is extinguished only with water; so when one of you becomes angry, he should perform ablution. (Book 41, Number 4766: Abu Dawood)

9. The Prophet (saw) said, “When you are aware of his (devil) presence then seek refuge in Allah (swt) from him and spit on your left side 3 times

10. Abu Zamil asked Ibnu Abbas: I find certain things confusing so he was told Hual Awwal Wal Aakhir Wazzahir Wal Batin Wa Huwa Bikulle Shaiin Alim

11. The Prophet (saw) said, “A strong believer is better and more liked by Allah than a believer who is weak, and there is goodness in everybody.”

12. At the time of having sexual intercourse: Allah (swt) has destined that a child should be born for them because of that co-habitation then the devil will never hurt that child

Hadith: dua’a on cohabitation
Ibn ‘Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “If anyone of you intends to have an intercourse with his wife, he should say: “I begin with the Name of Allah, O Allah, keep Shaitan away from us, and keep Shaitan away from what you provide us.’ Then if Allah ordains a child for them, Satan will never be able to harm him.” (Bukhari 5165, Muslim 828)

13. Saying: “I seek refuge in Allah (swt) from the cursed devil” then his anger will go away with him

Hadith
Sulaiman Bin Surad (ra) narrated: Two men abused each other in front of the Prophet (saw) while we were sitting with him. One of the two abused his companion furiously and his face became red. The Prophet (saw) said, “I know a word the saying of which will cause him to relax if this man says it: ‘I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the outcast’.”
Thereupon, a person went to him who had heard that from the Prophet (saw) and said to him: “Do you know what the Messenger of Allah (saw) said? He said: I know of a wording; if he were to say that (the anger) would be no more (and the words are): ‘I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the outcast’.” And the person said to him: “Do you find me mad?” (Bukhari 6115, Muslim 1792)

14. Do not say: “May the devil perish!” but say: “in the name of Allah”

t Narrated a man: AbulMalih reported on the authority of a man: I was riding on a mount behind the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him). It stumbled. Thereupon I said: May the devil parish! He said: Do not say: May the devil perish! for if you say that , he will swell so much so that he will be like a house, and say: By my power. But say: In the name of Allah; for when you say that, he will diminish so much so that he will be like a fly. (Book 41, Number 4946: Abu Dawood)

15. The Prophet (saw) said that when a person sees something that strikes him, amazes him or dreams about, he should ask Allah (swt) to give him barakah because evil eye is true

16. Seek protection against the Jinn and evil eye with Surah Falaq and An-Nas

It has been reported from Abu Sa’id that Allah’s Messenger (saw) used to seek protection against the evil eyes of the Jinns and mankind. But when the Mu’awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Ikhlas and Surah An-Nas) were revealed, he used them (for protection) and abandoned all else besides them (At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasa’i and Ibn Majah)

17. The Prophet (saw) said, “When a son of Adam recites an ayah of Sajdah and falls into prostration, Satan goes into seclusion and weeps.”

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that when, the son of Adam recites the Ayat of Sajdah (prostration) and then falls down in prostration, the Satan goes into seclusion and weeps and says: Alas, and in the narration of Abu Kuraib the words are: Woe unto me, the son of Adam was commanded to prostrate, and he prostrated and Paradise was entitled to him and I was commanded to prostrate, but I refused and am doomed to Hell. (Book 001, Number 0144: Sahih Muslim)

18. The Prophet (saw) said, “Do not make your houses as graveyards, satan runs away from the house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited.”

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) as saying: Do not make your houses as graveyards. Satan runs away from the house in which Surah Baqarah is recited. (Book 004, Number 1707: Sahih Muslim)

19. The hadith of the Prophet (saw) with Abu Bakker and Umar regarding the recitation of the Qur’an

Ibn 'Abbas reported: The word of (Allah) Great and Glorious: 'And utter not thy prayer loudly, nor be low in it" (xvii. 110) was revealed as the Messenger of Allah (may peace beupon him) was hiding himself in Mecca. When he led his Companions in prayer he raised his voice (while reciting the) Qur'an. And when the polytheists heard that, they reviled the Qur'an and Him Who revealed it and him who brought it. Upon this Allah, the Exalted, said to His Apostle (peace be upon him): Utter not thy prayer so loudly that the polytheists may hear thy recitation and (recite it) not so low that it may be inaudible to your Companions. Make them hear the Qur'an, but do not recite it loudly and seek a (middle) way between these. Recite between loud and low tone. (Book 004, Number 0897: Sahih Muslim)

20. Imam Ahmed was asked: “Should a man point a finger in salah?” He said: “Yes he should do so vigorously.”

“When he raised his finger, he would move it, supplicating with it”, and he used to say, “It is surely more powerful against the devil than iron, meaning the forefinger.”(Ahmad, Bazzaar, Abu Ja'far al-Bukhteeri in al-Amaali (60/1), 'Abdul Ghani al-Maqdisi in his Sunan (12/2) with a hasan sanad, Rooyaani in his Musnad (249/2) & Baihaqi .)

FRUITS OF SHOWING SINCERITY TO ALLAH (SWT)

Help for the Ummah
Protection from the punishment of the Hereafter
Elevation of the status in the Hereafter
Being delivered from misguidance in the world
Increase in guidance
The people of the heaven like and love the people who are sincere
Acceptance is placed for the sincere person on earth by Allah (swt)
Good reputation among people
To dispel grief and worries of the world
Allah (swt) creates tranquility and peace in hearts
Faith is beautiful within the hearts and wickedness and disobedience is made distasteful
Keeping company of the sincere people
Bearing austere difficulties in this world no matter how severe they are
Sincerity in asking Allah (swt) repentance in the final stages of our life
The answering of invocations and prayers
The bliss and joy in the grave

PUNISHMENT IN SHOWING OFF

The defeat of the Ummah
Punishment in the Hereafter
The increase of misguidance in this world
The hatred of the people of heaven to the people who shows off
The hatred of the people of earth to the people who shows off
Feeling of anxiety and distress
Threat of a bad end
Embarrassment of the person who shows off in front of everybody

HADITH REGARDING SINCERITY AND WARNING AGAINST SHOWING OFF

There are three things that a heart of a believer does not aim to reduce:

- Sincerity to Allah (swt)
- Having a sense of well-being towards the Muslim Ummah
- Being close and sticking with group of Muslims

The Prophet (saw) said, “Allah helps this Ummah because of its weak people, their dua’a, their salah and because of their sincerity.”
Abu Dardah said, “This world is cursed, everything in it is cursed, except those occasions which are performed in order to seek the pleasure of Allah (swt).”
This Ummah has been given glad tidings about their religion, about elevation and about establishing authority on the Earth, so whoever does anything in the world they will have nothing in the Hereafter.

“Whoever shows off in his actions, Allah (swt) will embarrass him in front of people and He will reduce his status and He will look down upon him.”
The Prophet (saw) said, “Shall I not warn you about something which is more dangerous than Dajjal?” So he said, “The hidden shirk – a man performing salah and embellishes it when he feels somebody is looking at him.”

Shirk of secret
“He who associates anybody with Allah (swt), in any action, then he should seek the reward for that action with that person because Allah (swt) is most independent of all associates and partners.”

SOME GOOD SAYINGS ABOUT SINCERITY

If Satan approaches you during salah and says you are showing off, then increase the length of the salah.

A person asked, “Show me a deed that I shall keep forever for Allah (swt)’s sake.” He was told, “Make an intention to do good deeds, because even if you stop your actions, your intentions will continue.”

A person said, “I like to have an intention to everything that I do, even in my food, drink and in my sleep.”

A person who is sincere hides his good deeds just like he hides bad things.

Sincere actions suffice even though actions may be few.

Whoever sees sincerity in his sincerity then he needs sincerity in his sincerity.

Allah (swt) requires only sincerity from His creatures actions.

Sincerity is to forget observing people by observing Allah (swt) only

Wassiyah or Islamic Will

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Death is real and it is certain. It can come to anyone at any time without warning, so it is highly recommended for us to prepare for it.

Every soul shall have a taste of death: And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception. [Holy Quran 3:185]

Before death come to us the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam strongly urge Muslims to make will. Insha Allah the following hadith is a reminder for me first and Muslim.

Narrated Abdullah bin Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "It is not permissible for any Muslim who has something to will to stay for two nights without having his last will and testament written and kept ready with him." (Sahih Bukhari, Book #51, Hadith #1)

Insha Allah to help us preparing our will you can download a sample will kit designed to be compliant with Islamic and Australian Laws at the Australian Islamic Will Kit. It deals with important aspects, such as:

* How you want to be buried
* How you would like to be washed
* What you would like your grave to look like
* Dealing with Debts
* etc

The followings also will guide us preparing our will:

To my child

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.

Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is.

Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park to play.

Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.

Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles.

Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.

Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.

Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.

Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.

Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry.

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars..

Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favourite TV shows.

Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given.

I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms.
The mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer and scream inside that little body

And when I kiss you goodnight I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer.

It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask him for nothing, except one more day.............

Money Personality

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

I accidentally browsed this EdaMahpot.com on the topic of Test Your Money Personality I and II. You can do a fun quiz here to find out which money personality best describes your style of money management.

My money personality is: Balanced

People who exhibit a balanced money personality style enjoy making and managing money. They may view budgeting and investing as a game of sorts.

Money is viewed as a tool that is used to achieve ones goals.

While they often have a budget, Balanced persons do not become overly uncomfortable with the occasional unforeseen expense or in purchasing the occasional luxury item.

Balanced persons often feel that diligence, research and effort will reward them in the end.

If they invest, Balanced persons tend to have balanced portfolios and are often comfortable seeking advice from financial managers.

Teething on treatment day.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Amy, Muja, speech therapist came. She brought the frog toy for Muja. I can see Muja was trying to reach the toy. She also let Muja practised toy with switch but she was not interested on the kangaroo toy. I am so glad she told us what she likes. We are certainly know that she loves loud sound kind of toys.

In the afternoon, Muja, Hani and me went to the Healing Point for Muja Acupuncture appointment at 2:30 PM and my osteopath appointment at 3:30 PM. Alhamdulillah since Muja woke up that morning she was happy and alright.

She slept in the car on our way there. When we got there she started unsettled. She was getting worst in the treatment room. She was teething. She was dribbling like water pouring from tap until her bib was soaking wet. She cried louder while the needles entered her skin. The problem with her teething, they are coming out really slow. They got worst because she would not let anything in her mouth or chewing any solid food.

After the treatment she was still crying. I tried to settled her but not successes. Thanks for Illana, my osteopath, understanding to postpone my appointment to Friday. While we were waiting the stronger herb to be prepared, Muja vomited. She felt better and tired after that so she felt asleep.

I hurt my back holding Muja. I took Arnica at home and my back heal itself without I realised it. Alhamdulillah.

A New Owen Homeopathic Center in Redcliffe

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Muja had her appointment with Kate today at a new Owen Homeopatic Center in Redcliff. The place was more spacious and there wasn't any stairs to the consulting room as it was in the old center in Mount Lawlay. Alhamdulillah, it was easy so that I don't have to leave the pram and carry Muja to the room.

Kate looked really happy today because it is her birthday.

This time she prescribed Muja with:

Syph 200 and CM (monthly).

Phos 30, 200 and 1M (weekly).

Sul 200, 1M, 10M and CM for constipation of dry, hard, knotty stools; painful; alternating with diarrhoea; ineffectual urging before and after stool, followed by aching and sticking pain in rectum.

Plumbum 30 (weekly) for her seizures.

Carbo Veg 6 (3 times daily) to increase oxygen.

Short History of Hajj

IslamiCity* -

Hajj literally means 'to set out for a place'. Islamically however it refers to the annual pilgrimage that Muslims make to Makkah with the intention of performing certain religious rites in accordance with the method prescribed by the Prophet Muhammad .

Hajj and its rites were first ordained by Allah in the time of the Prophet lbrahim [Abraham] and he was the one who was entrusted by Allah to build the Kaba - the House of Allah - along with his son Ismail [Ishmael] at Makkah. Allah described the Kaba and its building as follows:

"And remember when We showed Ibrahim the site of the [Sacred] House [saying]: Associate not anything [in worship with Me and purify My House for those who circumambulate it [i.e. perform tawaaf] and those who stand up for prayer and those who bow down and make prostration [in prayer etc.]."
[Surah Al-Hajj 22:26]

After building the Kaba, Prophet Ibrahim would come to Makkah to perform Hajj every year, and after his death, this practice was continued by his son. However, gradually with the passage of time, both the form and the goal of the Hajj rites were changed. As idolatry spread throughout Arabia, the Kaba lost its purity and idols were placed inside it. Its walls became covered with poems and paintings, including one of Jesus and his mother Maryam and eventually over 360 idols came to be placed around the Kaba.

During the Hajj period itself, the atmosphere around the sacred precincts of the Kaba was like a circus. Men and women would go round the Kaba naked, arguing that they should present themselves before Allah in the same condition they were born. Their prayer became devoid of all sincere remembrance of Allah and was instead reduced to a series of hand clapping, whistling and the blowing of horns. Even the talbiah [1] was distorted by them with the following additions: 'No one is Your partner except one who is permitted by you. You are his Master and the Master of what he possesses'.

Sacrifices were also made in the name of God. However, the blood of the sacrificed animals was poured onto the walls of the Kaba and the flesh was hung from pillars around the Kaba, in the belief that Allah demanded the flesh and blood of these animals.

Singing, drinking, adultery and other acts of immorality was rife amongst the pilgrims and the poetry competitions, which were held, were a major part of the whole Hajj event. In these competitions, poets would praise the bravery and splendor of their own tribesmen and tell exaggerated tales of the cowardice and miserliness of other tribes. Competitions in generosity were also staged where the chief of each tribe would set up huge cauldrons and feed the pilgrims, only so that they could become well-known for their extreme generosity.

Thus the people had totally abandoned the teachings of their forefather and leader Prophet Ibrahim. The House that he had made pure for the worship of Allah alone, had been totally desecrated by the pagans and the rites which he had established were completely distorted by them. This sad state of affairs continued for nearly two and a half thousand years. But then after this long period, the time came for the supplication of Prophet Ibrahim to be answered:

"Our Lord! Send amongst them a Messenger of their own, who shall recite unto them your aayaat (verses) and instruct them in the book and the Wisdom and sanctify them. Verily you are the 'Azeezul-Hakeem [the All-Mighty, the All-Wise]."
[Surah Al-Baqarah 2:129]

Sure enough, a man by the name of Muhammad ibn 'Abdullaah was born in the very city that Prophet Ibrahim had made this supplication centuries earlier. For twenty-three years, Prophet Muhammad spread the message of Tawheed [true monotheism] - the same message that Prophet Ibrahim and all the other Prophets came with - and established the law of Allah upon the land. He expended every effort into making the word of Allah supreme and his victory over falsehood culminated in the smashing of the idols inside the Kaba which once again became the universal center for the worshippers of the one True God.

Not only did the Prophet rid the Kaba of all its impurities, but he also reinstated all the rites of Hajj which were established by Allah's Permission, in the time of Prophet Ibrahim. Specific injunctions in the Quran were revealed in order to eliminate all the false rites which had become rampant in the pre-Islamic period. All indecent and shameful acts were strictly banned in Allah's statement:

"There is to be no lewdness nor wrangles during Hajj."
[Surah al-Baqarah 2:197]

Competitions among poets in the exaltations of their forefathers and their tribesmen's achievements were all stopped. Instead, Allah told them:

"And when you have completed your rites [of Hajj] then remember Allah as you remember your forefathers; nay with a more vigorous remembrance."
[Surah al-Baqarah 2:200]

Competitions in generosity were also prohibited. Of course, the feeding of the poor pilgrims was still encouraged as this was done during the time of Prophet Ibrahim but Allah commanded that the slaughtering of the animals which was done for this purpose should be done seeking the pleasure of Allah rather than fame and the praise of the people. He said:

"So mention the name of Allah over these animals when they are drawn up in lines. Then, when they are drawn on their sides [after the slaughter], eat thereof and feed the beggar who does not ask, and the beggar who asks."
[Surah al-Hajj 22:36]

As for the deplorable practice of spattering blood of the sacrificed animals on the walls of the Kaba and hanging their flesh on alters, then Allah clearly informed them that:

"It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is Taqwaa (piety) from you that reaches Him."
[Surah al-Hajj 22:37]

The Prophet also put a stop to the practice of circling the Kaba in a state of nudity and the argument that the pagans put forward to justify this ritual was sharply rebutted in Allah's question:

"Say: Who has forbidden the adornment [i.e. clothes] given by Allah which He has produced for His Slaves?"
[Surah al-A'raaf 7:32]

Another custom which was prohibited through the Quran was that of setting off for Hajj without taking any provisions for the journey. In the pre-Islamic period, some people who claimed to be mutawakkiloon (those having complete trust in Allah) would travel to perform Hajj begging for food through the whole journey. They considered this form of behavior a sign of piety and an indication of how much faith they had in Allah. However Allah told mankind that to have sufficient provisions for the journey was one of the preconditions for making Hajj. He said:

"And take a provision [with you] for the journey, but the best provision is at-Taqwaa (piety)."
[Surah al-Baqarah 2:197]

In this way, all the pre-Islamic practices, which were based on ignorance, were abolished and Hajj was once more made a model of piety, fear of Allah, purity, simplicity and austerity. Now, when the pilgrims reach the Kaba, they no longer find the carnivals and the frolic and frivolity that had once occupied the minds of the pilgrims there before. Now, there is the remembrance of Allah at every step and every action and every sacrifice was devoted to Him alone. It was this kind of Hajj that was worthy of the reward of paradise, as the Prophet said: "The reward for an accepted Hajj is nothing less than paradise."

May Allah grant us all the ability to visit His House and perform the Hajj in the manner of the Prophet Muhammad . Aameen.

Footnotes

1 Labbaik Allahumma labbaik... (Here I am present, O' God, I am present...) This is the chant which the pilgrims say when they are traveling for pilgrimage.

Assessment Day at Carson Street School.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Alhamdulillah, we decided to enrolled Muja at Carson Street School for kindy next year on Conductive Education. Today we went there for an assessment. Alhamdullillah, she was in her best mood. Although she looked tired, she done well in the assessment.

The staffs at that school was very friendly. I was touched seeing how caring people can be to the special needs children. I think carer is doing an amazing unselfish work to other who is in needs. I saw two other girls who we meet at TCCP attending the class that Muja is going to.

The assessment was also video recorded on the following:

1 Sitting herself on the floor without support. Legs straight and arms support herself.
2 Laying down on her back. Turning her head from left to right. She didn't turn head when a musical instrument was shaking on her other side of the head. Holding rattle on her hand and change hand with help.
3 Rolling from side to side and rest on her tummy with her head up with help.
4 Crawling with the arm wraps. She was doing it really well with the help of the arm wraps. She pushes her leg forward without help. She hold her body weight and her head was up.
5 Sitting on a stool on 5 counts. She tends to fall to her side.
6 Standing with the help of wallbars.
7 Walking using the wallbars. Once she grap it, she push it forward and try to take a step. Masha Allah I believe one day she will walk, Insha Allah. With Allah help everything is posible.
8 Sitting on the stool while holding on a the sides of stool.
9 Playing with toys while sitting and looking herself in the mirror.

Masha Allah I did not realised how clever she is and she has huge improved on her ability to learn. Subhana Allah, on the assessment day I was a proud mother of my Muja, who has cerebral palsy and in special needs. Alhamdulillah, she is the best gift from Allah for me and our family.

Two Treatments in a Day

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Muja has her cranio osteopathy appointment yesterday at The Healing Point with Illana. The treatment took about 45 minutes on a massage table where she is touch or manipulate gently around the head, backbone and tight. She enjoyed her treatment by Illana and gave her a few smiles and communicate with her by making some sounds.

I was really sleepy because I stayed awake with Muja last night since 3 am. I was hoping that I could have a little nap to charge me up! But...Alhadulillah, May Allah give me strength, Ameen.

In the afternoon I took Muja to PMH for her 3rd Botox Injection on her tight muscles. When we arrived there the nurse did general check up and weight her. She weight 12.25 kg, Masha Allah. She has to be weight so that they can calculate out how much pain relief medicine to give to her. Last time they gave her something that made Muje scream, stiff and having seizures. Alhamdulillah they change into a different medicine and she was asleep with open eyes and hardly felt any pains.

I gave her Arnica to calm her and myself and Cuprum for her seizure. Before the injection the nurses put some cream on her inside tights and the back of her tights. A few minutes after the pain relief was given to her she felt asleep with open eyes. It was only after an hour we enter the treatment room where she received about 8 injections and only felt a bit of the pain. Alhamdulillah.

Cream on back of Muja tight before the Botox injections.

The cream is apply inside her tight before the Botox injections is given.

Last time we have to wait in an uncomfortable TV room. This time we were in a room in ward 5A where there are 6 beds in it. There were 4 more children came for the same injection but for different reason, but most of them or three of them because they are walking tip toe. The nurse made a mistake by putting cream on a wrong leg on one of the girl and I could hear the poor little girl screams from the treatment room. It sound scary to me. How could they make a mistake and the parents didn't realised it? They were so angry. I don't blame them.

After the injection Muja paediatrician discuss with me her MRI test result which showed some mild seizure which not to be worried. The test was done in April, 2007, and I was surprised they didn't contact me to discuss about the result sooner. She would discuss about any medication options went we see her in a month time.

Her paediatrician said that she won't be on Phenobarbiton this time as she was on it before since she was born until she was about 9 months. For nine months we had the worst nightmare in our life. Continues crying, spasm and awaking night. She was in her own world seperated from us. Her reflux was getting worst until we decided to stop the reflux medication with the help from our family doctor. Suddently her reflux gone!

With the help from our family doctor again, who said that Muja was a drug addict at that time, we stop the medicine. She only has couple of seizures since we stop. One when she had tummy infestions and one when we went for her 2nd botox injection.

We decided to do alternative treatment for many reasons which I am not going to discuss here yet. We went to homeopath to treat her seizure since Muja was 9 months old. At that time I remember she also had very bad urine infention and not to forget her reflux. We also used the homeopathic remedies for them and alhamdulillah she was better. Alhamdulillah the remedies really control her seizures as well. To me that was approved by her recent MRI test showing that she only has mild seizures activities. Alhamdulillah.

It was a long day for us from 9:30 am leaving the house to Healing Point. Got home, feed Muja. Had my lunch and pray Dzuhr then went to PMH. We arrived at the hospital at 12:50 pm and left it at 4:00 pm.

Muja was asleep when we leave the hospital. The medicine really make her sleepy. She was still asleep until 10 pm that night. She even asleep during our dinner time at Batavia Corner. Alhamdulillah, at least she has time for sleep.

Botox beats cerebal palsy symptoms

Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

The 7:30 Report Transcript

Reporter: Natasha Johnson

KERRY O'BRIEN: Botulinum toxin is one of the most poisonous substances on the planet, but its potential as a biological weapon hasn't stopped it becoming one of the most popular cosmetic treatments for wrinkles.

Vanity and weapons aside, the toxin, more commonly known as Botox, is playing an important role in treating cerebral palsy.

So far it's only approved for treatment of children whose cerebral palsy causes them to walk on their toes.

But Melbourne researchers are experimenting with a combination of botox and intensive physiotherapy to treat affected arms.

And the testing produced a surprising discovery that children's brains could actually reorganise to improve their motor skills.

Natasha Johnson reports.

NATASHA JOHNSON: Amelia Frame likes to think of herself as just like any other eight-year-old.

But, until recently, she struggled to perform the kinds of tasks most of her friends take for granted, like tying up shoelaces.

She has cerebral palsy, which is caused by brain damage suffered around the time of birth, which affects motor skills.

Its severity can vary widely but, in Amelia's case, it affects her right side only, impeding use of her right arm and leg.

MARIA FRAME: When she was first diagnosed, they weren't sure whether she was going to be able to walk.

They thought her right arm, which has being affected, was actually going to end up being a paperweight.

She was fairly dependent on Malcolm and myself helping her dress and also with some of her -- at meal times, cutting up her food, if she was at school, just catching a ball, that sort of thing.

She's had problems with coordination.

NATASHA JOHNSON: From six months of age, Amelia Frame has undergone intensive therapies to help her overcome her disability.

One of the most successful has been injections of the deadly nerve agent Botulinum toxin to treat walking on her toes, a common problem for children with cerebral palsy.

The toxin, commonly known as botox, is a popular cosmetic treatment for ironing out wrinkles.

But it's also effective in relieving muscle spasms and spasticity caused by cerebral palsy.

ROSLYN BOYD, MURDOCH CHILDREN'S RESEARCH INSTITUTE: It is quite ironic when you say to parents, "This is a deadly toxin and we would like to inject small quantities."

But we know we can do that safely.

NATASHA JOHNSON: After successfully being treated with botox to improve her walking, Amelia Frame happily volunteered for a research project trialling Botulinum toxin injected into her arm, combined with intensive physio and occupational therapy.

Researchers from Melbourne's Brain Research Institute and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute then tested the effectiveness of the therapy by scanning her brain while she tapped her affected finger.

She was scanned and tested performing various tasks before treatment, three weeks later and then a further three months after treatment.

MARIA ROSLYN BOYD: Amelia had a lot of difficulty with very fine movements and she had a lot of difficulty lifting her wrist up and turning her hand over and being able to grasp her thumb and finger together, and now she can do those activities much more easily.

NATASHA JOHNSON: While delighted to see her movements improving, what excited researchers even more was what the scan showed had happened to her brain in the three months of treatment.

The green on Amelia's first scan indicates the limited ability she has on one side of her brain to move her affected finger.

Three weeks later, the yellow indicates greater activity on both sides of her brain to move her finger.

Her third scan shows an unexpected switch in activity to the opposite side of the brain.

PROFESSOR GRAEME JACKSON, BRAIN RESEARCH INSTITUTE: Twelve weeks later is the most dramatic of these.

She's now got a classic pattern of activity that we would see in you or I, except it's on the opposite side of the brain.

It's gone from the normal side in the first scan to a normal pattern on the opposite side after three months.

And that's really quite extraordinary.

NATASHA JOHNSON: In fact, researchers say the part of Amelia's brain that has now taken over operating her affected right finger is the same part of her brain that already operates her unaffected left finger.

PROFESSOR GRAEME JACKSON: This is the part of her brain that was being used to control, in this case, her left hand and now it's being used to control both her left and her right hand.

It seems that what she's done is she's learned to suppress the bad bit of her brain and reinforce the pathways that are there that attach that finger to the good bit of her brain.

NATASHA JOHNSON: What this means, the researchers believe, is that the brain can reorganise itself, challenging previously held beliefs that the brain wasn't flexible beyond the early years of childhood.

PROFESSOR GRAEME JACKSON: Neurologists have always thought that, if you then damage a bit, you can't reorganise the brain after a certain critical period of age.

This suggests that that age may be most of our life or even may be a fundamental mechanism of the brain.

Now, that might not have surprised some fundamental scientists in a lab somewhere but in clinical medicine that's a really fairly radical concept.

NATASHA JOHNSON: The researchers scanned 10 children for the study.

All showed some brain changes but three experienced the dramatic reorganisation displayed by Amelia Frame.

They now need to expand the study, with the next step to identify exactly which therapies and how much of them trigger brain change.

ROSLYN BOYD: Is more therapy going to be even more effective or would that be too much?

Should we be doing that in short bursts or over a longer period?

So we can start to look and examine exactly how the brain adapts.

NATASHA JOHNSON: While this study has focused on cerebral palsy, researchers are using the scanning technology to test for brain reorganisation in other conditions like epilepsy, schizophrenia and stroke.

Such discoveries may arouse excitement amongst medical professionals, but it's not even close to that felt by Amelia Frame and her family.

MARIA FRAME: It makes us extremely happy -- peace of mind that we know that she's going to be able to cope as she gets older.

Something as simple as tying up a shoelace, for us, was just a huge thing.

It was just great.

Article from The Daily Telegraf, Taken from news.com.au

HOLLWOOD hellraiser Colin Farrell has revealed that his young son struggles to walk, speak and learn because he suffers from a form of cerebral palsy.

Four-year-old James was diagnosed with the rare condition Angelman Syndrome before he reached his first birthday.

Reformed wildman Farrell has now chosen to speak out about his son's condition in the hope that it will give inspiration to other parents.

Farrell said: "With my son the only time I'm reminded that there is something different about him - that he has some deviation of what is perceived to be normal - is when I see him with other four-year-olds.

"Then I go, 'Oh yeah', and it comes back to me. But from day one I felt that he's the way he's meant to be.

He also says that he feels incredibly blessed to have his son in his life.

"There is no heartbreak about it, it's not a sad story. I'm incredibly blessed to have him in my life," he told Britain's Daily Mail.

'He has enriched my life incredibly and I wouldn't have it any other way."

And Farrell was eager to praise the efforts of little James in coping with his disorder, a form of cerebral palsy which is usually characterised by developmental delay, speech impediment and seizures.

"He took his first steps about six weeks ago and it was four years in the making. All the work is his - he's worked his a**e off for four years and when he took the steps it was incredible. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

"He's broken that barrier and it's about building on that now."

James was born in September 2003 and Farrell and his ex-girlfriend Kim Bordenave - an American model - discovered that he had Angelman Syndrome when he was just seven months old.

Sleep Solutions

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Sue, from "Sleep Solutions' team at TCCP, came today for Muja sleep review. She came with Muja OT, Emma and a student. From the sleep dairy that I have been recorded we found out that the constipation disturb her sleeping apart from teething and not being well. Needs to refer Muja to the dietician for constipation and paediatrician for sleeping medication.

Sue reviews Muja sleeping position by putting few pillows next to her legs and in between legs. Muja bed needs to be raise on head side for better breathing and I will get the bed raisers from River Abilities in Bentley. The funds will take six months of waiting list so it is better for me to buy it myself.

Other solutions for Muje sleep problems which we already implement including a calming routine before sleep like a warm bath and reading and supplications. We make the night boring and off the light in her room. She has supporting posture which we got from TCCP about 6 moths ago. She also takes melatonin before sleep.

Research has shown that at Muja age of 3 years and 4 months she needs 11 hours of sleep. According to the brochure I received from TCCP about Sleep Solutions for babies and children with Cerebral Palsy, children with cerebral palsy need a good night sleep for:

  • growth and development
  • general health
  • energy for daily activities
  • mood and well being
  • social and family interaction
  • memory and learning
  • attention and concentration.

Children with cerebral palsy have sleep disturbance because they have

  • pain and discomfort due to muscle spasm, abnormal postures, temperature/perspiration, reflux, intestinal problems and breathing difficulties
  • behavioural and learning difficulties related to intellectual disability, autism, AHAD, epilepsy, sensory impairment and health issues
  • difficulty managing their sleep environment such as adjusting bedding, lights or changing position in bed

Damba Cinta-Mu by Raihan

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Tuhanku ampunkanlah segala dosaku
Tuhanku maafkanlah kejahilan hamba-Mu

Ku sering melanggar larangan-Mu
Dalam sedar ataupun tidak
Ku sering meninggalkan suruhan-Mu
Walau sedar aku milik-Mu

Bilakah diri inikan kembali
Kepada fitrah sebenar
Pagiku ingat petang kualpa
Begitulah silih berganti

Oh Tuhanku Kau pimpinlah diri ini
Yang mendamba cinta-Mu
Aku lemah aku jahil
Tanpa pimpinan dari-Mu

Kusering berjanji depan-Mu
Sering juaku memungkiri
Kupernah menangis kerana-Mu
Kemudian ketawa semula

Kau Pengasih Kau Penyayang Kau Pengampun
Kepada hamba-hamba-Mu
Selangkahku kepada-Mu
Seribu langkah Kau padaku

Tuhan diri ini tidak layak ke syurga-Mu
Tapi tidak pula aku sanggup ke neraka-Mu
Kutakut kepada-Mu
Kuharap jua pada-Mu
Mogaku kan selamat dunia akhirat
Seperti rasul dan sahabat

Huge increase in Howard Government funding for People with Disability and their Families

28/06/2007

A $1.8 billion package for people with disability and their families will help reduce the critical level of unmet need for disability services and positively impact on the lives of people with disability.

Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Mal Brough today said as part of this package, $962 million would be provided to help older carers and their families.

"With some services available in 2007-08 and increasing each year thereafter, this will translate into around 1750 new supported accommodation places and 800 new respite places to be available by 2012, and additional in-home support and respite to assist older carers continue their caring role," Mr Brough said.

"At a total cost of $721.2 million, carers of around 130,000 children with disability under the age of 16 years will receive $1000 each year, with the first payment in October 2007, to assist with the purchase of necessary support, such as a wheelchairs, communication aids, therapy and respite.

"The Howard Government will commit $23.6 million over five years to enable several services for children with disability to continue providing much-needed respite, early intervention and other services for children in their local area.

An increased investment in employment services for people with disability, will include

* $21.6 million over five years for an extra 500 supported employment places in business services;
* $31 million to continue targeted support to people with disability who cannot benefit from supported employment;
* $21.8 million in viability support to assist business services in temporary crisis; and
* $26.5 million in increased funding for disability services.

"As with the recent initiatives for Mental Health and Younger People in Residential Aged Care, the Howard Government is responding to crisis in an area of State and Territory responsibility - specifically the provision of supported accommodation, respite and early intervention services.

"I will continue to work with the States and Territories toward a new Commonwealth State Territory Disability Agreement, and maintain the Howard Government's offer of $3.3 billion to assist states deliver services in their areas of responsibility.

"I urge the States and Territories to match the Howard Government contribution, by increasing funding to deliver more services in areas of critical need, to further improve the lives of people with disability,' Mr Brough said.

UK Mother wants hysterectomy for disabled daughter

Mon Oct 8, 2007 12:48pm EDT

LONDON (Reuters Life!) - A British mother's desire for her teenage daughter, who has severe cerebral palsy, to have a hysterectomy is being opposed by a leading disability organization which says it is unethical.

Alison Thorpe, from Essex in southern England, wants her 15-year-old daughter Katie to have the operation to prevent her suffering the long-term discomfort of periods.

She told television's Sky News that her daughter should have the operation to protect her from the "pain, discomfort and indignity" of periods.

"It's not a decision we took lightly," she said.

Katie cannot walk or talk and understands little of what is said to her, making it difficult for her to give consent to the operation.

But Scope, an organization that supports people who have cerebral palsy, caused by damage to the motor control centers of the young developing brain, said the operation was not necessary and would be traumatic.

Executive Director Andy Rickell said he recognized the difficulty for parents.

But he added: "It is very difficult to see how this kind of invasive surgery, which is not medically necessary and which will be very painful and traumatic, can be in Katie's best interests.

"This case raises fundamental ethical issues about the way our society treats disabled people and the respect we have for disabled people's human and reproductive rights.

"Scope is concerned that doctors are supporting parents in this case," he added in a statement.

It opposes attempts by Thorpe to seek medical consent for the operation and is considering what action to take.

Rickell called on the government to provide the funding and support needed for parents "so they do not feel pressured to resort to such drastic measures".

He also called on the government to introduce additional legal safeguards, including the right to an independent advocate for any child in such a situation.

"We want to see a clear framework put in place for dealing with ethical decisions of this complexity, which places the rights, and best interests, of disabled children at the heart of any decision," he said.

Thorpe has requested a referral by her doctor to have the operation carried out at a local hospital in Essex.

Mid Essex Hospital Services said in a statement it had received a referral but that no decision had been made on any treatment.

10th Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Today we went for Muja 10th session of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) at the Oasis Hyperbaric Therapy. Insha Allah we aim for 40 sessions, then we will having a break before continue again. We have cancelled two sessions two weeks ago because she has cough and sinus. Alhamdulillah she is better.

In the chamber I hold her in a sitting position. I have to bent my head before it is fully pressurised. Once we get into it, it will be zipped twice. Then it starts pressurised. When the pressure rise my ear feel discomfort as pressure building in my ears like experienced when landing in an aeroplane. It would take about 5 to 10 minutes for it to be fully pressurised, then the oxygen starts coming in the chamber.

Alhamdulillah, Muja has not showing discomfort on most of the therapy sessions except when she was not feeling well last time where we decided to stop the therapy.

We were in for one hour. When the oxygen starts coming in I lay down with Muja next to me. I tried to get some sleep if I can and relax. There a re few times Muja felt asleep in it. When the therapy finished, the pressure in chamber is decreased. I hold Muja in the sitting position. At this time I would feel my ears pops. We went out only after the chamber if fully decompress.

China stem cell hopes for cerebral palsy girl

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Telegraph.co.uk

Last Updated: 1:44am BST 15/05/2007

A British couple are hoping to send their eight-year-old daughter to China for revolutionary treatment for cerebral palsy, they said yesterday.

Kishor Tahiliani and his wife, Priti, plan to raise £18,000 for stem cell injections that they believe will give their daughter, Vaishnavi, known as Shonia, a more normal life.

The treatment is not yet available in the UK but a hospital in China has made a breakthrough in treating cerebral palsy. The procedure involves injecting stem cells into the spinal cord fluid. The stem cells then flow directly into the brain.

The treatment at Tiantan Puhua Neurosurgical Hospital in Beijing has already helped 19-year-old Gabor Bocskai from Hungary to walk, sit up, swim, concentrate for longer, see better and speak.

Mr Tahiliani, 34, who works in hotel management, said: "This is the best treatment for her. There are cerebral palsy children who were totally blind and now they can see, that's in Mexico.

"My wife spoke to an American woman. They were crying on the phone. Her child is able to do what a normal child does. He used to get fits before, all the epilepsy fits have gone. He was unable to walk and he is walking now.

"There are so many children who have improved. It's amazing really."

Until recently there has been no medical treatment for cerebral palsy, which is caused by poor oxygen supply to the brain before, during or immediately after birth.

The two-month treatment in China uses stem cells taken from the umbilical cords of healthy babies. These develop into new nerve cells and repair some of the brain damage.

Shonia will need physiotherapy and speech therapy to help her learn how to hold her neck, sit or stand alone and speak. Mr Tahiliani and his wife, a 34-year-old care assistant, discovered the breakthrough after a year-and-a-half of internet research.

He added: "I think many parents are still not aware of this revolutionary treatment and what it's doing for others."

He said: "China are quite advanced in this field.

"The UK has fallen behind at the moment. Research is still in its early stages here, it will be 2010 before it comes into action.

"I think it will open so many doors for children."

Shonia cannot speak but understands English and Hindi, she cannot sit or walk by herself and is confined to a wheelchair. When she was born, doctors had given up hope and told her parents, who live in Bournemouth, Dorset, that, if she lived, she would never walk or talk.

But her parents say she can smile, show happiness and respond to them and she is trying to formulate words.
