Muji's Light: The Silent Path

Let me introduce you to Muji—my fifth child, my source of strength, and the quiet light that has illuminated my path. She’s 20 now, and though her journey has been filled with challenges, her presence shines with a brilliance that words can’t fully capture.

Muji has spastic Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects her muscle control and coordination, making movement difficult. Each week, she has physiotherapy, occupational therapy (OT), and hydrotherapy, gentle interventions that ease her stiffness and give her comfort. She relies on a wheelchair for mobility, navigating the world in her own quiet yet powerful way. Though her body faces limitations, her spirit remains limitless, teaching me that strength is not measured in steps, but in perseverance.

Her body requires extra care, and she relies on a PEG tube for nutrition, as eating by mouth is not safe for her. She also has a gut disorder that slows digestion, causing reflux, discomfort, and difficulty passing bowel movements. Meal times are moments of delicate care, yet through them, we find small victories—comfort, stability, and the quiet resilience that defines Muji’s journey.

Muji speaks without words. She uses a Tobii Dynavox device with Snap Core, hitting a switch with her head, shaping conversations through subtle lip movements and meaningful eye contact. Though she experiences cortical hearing impairment and vision impairment, and the world may not always reach her in expected ways, she still listens in the quiet spaces—in the warmth of touch, the rhythm of familiar voices, and the presence of love.

She also lives with epilepsy, a condition that brings seizures and sudden, uncontrolled movements. Sometimes, the episodes are fleeting—a distant gaze, a muscle twitch—but at other times, they take hold, stiffening her body or causing violent convulsions. As a result, sleep does not come easily to Muji. Her nights are filled with unpredictable rhythms—pauses in breathing, restless moments, and silent battles that only she understands.

Yet, through all of this, Muji remains my guiding light. She has taught me that strength is quiet, that love is limitless, and that patience is its own form of grace. She moves through life without words, but her presence speaks volumes.

Allah Almighty said: “On the Day you see the believing men and women, their light running before them and on their right, it will be said: ‘Good news for you today! Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there forever. This is the greatest triumph.’”  — Surah Al-Hadid (57:12)

Muji’s journey, though silent, is one of light. I hold onto the promise of Jannah, where she will be free from all these physical limits, where her light will shine ahead of her in divine triumph. Until then, I cherish every quiet moment, every silent victory, and every step along the path she has illuminated for me.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, the magnitude of the reward is tied to the magnitude of the trial. And when Allah loves a people, He tests them. Whoever is content will have contentment, and whoever is angry will have anger.”  — Sunan Ibn Majah (Hadith 4031)

Through Muji, I have learned patience in hardship, gratitude in difficulty, and faith in Allah’s wisdom. The trials are heavy, but the reward is greater. She is my silent strength, my quiet teacher, and my reminder that true endurance is in the heart, not in the body.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about Muji’s journey. If her story speaks to you, I invite you to walk this path with us—share your thoughts, subscribe to the blog, or simply reach out. We are not alone in these silent journeys; together, we find light.

May Muji’s light continue to shine and inspire. May your own journey be filled with patience, strength, and faith.

Stay blessed,
