💚 March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, and this year feels extra special. I'm so proud to share a new infographic poster I created to help gently explain Cerebral Palsy to young children. This poster is especially close to my heart as it was inspired by my own wonderful grandchildren. They have an amazing aunt, Muji (my daughter), and a younger uncle, Nazeem (my nephew), who both live with CP, and their beautiful, natural inclusion of them both just fills me with joy. My grandchildren are wonderfully curious and inclusive - they always gather around Aunt Muji's wheelchair, watch with fascination when I'm tube feeding her, and are captivated when she uses her communication device. They even politely ask their aunt if they can play on her electric bed, fascinated by how it goes up and down and tilts! 🥰 And with their uncle Nazeem, they have such fun too - you'll often see them happily riding their bikes behind him as he walks with his walker, keeping him company and making sure he's included in all the fun! This open curiosity, joyful inclusion, and everyday kindness is exactly what I hope to encourage in other children.
This infographic poster uses bright colors, friendly cartoon characters, and simple language to answer questions little ones might have about Cerebral Palsy. It gently explains what CP is, assures them it's not contagious ("Not a Germ!"), celebrates that "Everyone is Special and Different", and encourages them to "Be Super Friends!" by being kind and helpful. It even uses visuals like puzzle pieces, rainbows, and growing plants to make understanding easier and more fun for young minds.
This poster is for you if you're looking for a simple, visual way to talk about CP with little ones. Please feel free to print it for personal use and education this month. Let's plant seeds of understanding and kindness together.
Until next post, stay blessed.
