Acupuncture Appointment.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Yesterday we went to The Healing Point for Muja acupuncture appointment. Like usual I left the house half an hour before the appointment because it takes that much of time to get there. I forgot about the condition of our car. The car move slow even after I press the accelerator really hard. Alhamdulillah, we arrived there 15 minutes late.

After we arrived there, we waited for ten more minutes until we were called in the treatment room. This is the first time Muja sees Sono, although we knew her quite well. She used to asked about Muja condition most of the time when we came for osteopath appointment. She also recommeded her Chinese herb for her teething and constapation before.

Muja has running nose and coughing since 4 days ago. She is also teething. Her top right side molar and canine are coming out. Teething made her muscles stiff. It is her way of telling me that she is in pain I guest.

I was telling Sono that my biggest concern is her constipation. She has a major problem opening her bowel. Usually she is doing it every 5 to 7 days. It is hard and smelly like rotten egg or vegetables sometime. Its colour is dark green. I think cerebral palsy made her muscles uncontrollable so she cannot do it regularly like everyday. She bleed every time she did it too.

My other concern about her is her tight muscles. I told her that Muja's muscles are not so stiff since we are doing the oxygen therapy about four weeks now. I am only worried about her hips, because when she stiff she crossed her legs. That could dislocate her hips. She also fists her hands very hard.

Basically I was hoping the acupuncture will help her general well being, strength her immune system and repair her digestive system. But my long term goal for this treatment is for Muja to gain muscles strength so that one day she could hold herself sitting, standing, take her first step and walking. I was also hoping that she could control her hand more like pressing the switch to indicate her choice and eventually she could fully use her hand to hold and pick up something.

So the main treatment for Muja yesterday is her constapation. She tapped on Muja's pressure point before gave her the needles. Muja loves the attention she got from Sono as she taps her body, arms and legs. She was doing fine until the needle hit her tummy. The first three needles on her tummy was okay but the last one hurt her so she cried.

She also gets Chinese herb medicine to repair her gut and another one for her digestion.

The treatment made her tired and she slept in the car on our way home. Alhamdulillah after Maghrib she did a huge poo and she slept well last night.

On Lailatul Qadr - the Night of Power

Aishah (radhiya Allahu Ta'ala anha), that she said: "O Messenger of Allah! What if I knew which night Lailatul-Qadr was, then what should I say in it?" He said 'Say

اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ ، تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

O Allah You are The One Who pardons greatly, and loves to pardon, so pardon me.

Dates

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Article taken from The Qur'an Miracles.

Palmae dactylifere (Dates)

Allah The Almighty said to Maryam (Mary) (Peace be upon her): (And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree:It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee.)

Many Hadiths told about the favours and benefits of dates.

The prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) used to break his fast with some fresh dates before praying, and here appears the prophetic guidance: When fasting, a person relies on the sugar stocked in his body and especially that is stocked in the liver. The sugar obtained from the food taken just before starting the fast (i.e. ALSUHUR) lasts for six hours and then the body uses the sugar kept in the liver. When a person breaks his fast with dates, rich in monosaccharides, those arrive quickly to the liver and then to the blood which carries the nutrients to the other organs, whereas the person who fills up his stomach with food and drinks needs 2 to 3 hours to his intestines to absorb the sugar.

Dates and milk are a complemented complete food and numerous Bedouins live on dried dates and goats’ milk but are fit, healthy and less susceptible to chronic and malign illnesses. (1)

Dates also strengthen and increase the contraction rate of the uterus during the delivery and this is why Allah said to the pure lady Maryam: (And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee.)

It was reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said: Feed your women with dates as those who are fed with dates will have forbearing children”

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: the prophet (PBUH) said: Indeed in dates?? there is a cure. Reported by Muslim (14/3) and Ahmad (6/152)

It is a Sunna to break the fast with dates. The Prophet (PBUH) said: Whoever finds dates should break his fast with them and the one who does not should break his fast with water because it is pure”

Science has proved the benefits of dates, some of which are:

The active contents:

1) Dates contain a high percentage of carbohydrates which are the main source
of energy, as well as glucose and fructose
2) High content of vitamins that protect from Pellagra
3) Contain calcium, which is essential in bones formation.
4) High content of iron and phosphorus.

In addition to their content of spadix:

1) Sucrose
2) Proteinic complexes of a high nutritional value
3) Phosphorous, calcium and iron
4) Vitamins B &D
5) Rennin that is important for blood vessels flexibility
6) Estrogens: the hormones that stimulate the ovaries and help in the formation
of the ovule.

Medical and health benefits of Dates:

1) Help in the treatment of Anaemia thanks to their iron content
2) Treat heart diseases as they contain iron
3) Treat constipation as they are rich in Fructose
4) Active against Allergy as they contain Zinc
5) Stop the haemorrhage during pregnancy they contain vitamin K and Tannin
that acts as a contracting agent
6) Can be used in renal failure as they contain vitamins B1, B2& B6 and
fructose
7) The basic salts they comprise reduce acidity and heart burns
8) Prevent dizziness and fainting thanks to some elements like: Carotene
9) Help in preventing the growth and spread of cancer cells as they contain
Magnesium and calcium
10) Dates mimic the regenerating system in the body as they contains
phosphorous and other important mineral elements as well as vitamins
11) The flour of dried dates and their kernels help in treating asthma and airways
constriction .

Dates and the protection from poison and envy:

It was reported by Abu Naaim, Abu Daoud, Al Hakem, Al Imam Al Tarmithi and mentioned in The book of Al Imam Al Thahabi The Prophetic Medicine” that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “ The one who eats 7 dates in the morning will be protected that day from poison and envy

Concerning the first part i.e. poisons: Scientific experiments found that when poisoned, there is an increase in an enzyme produced in the liver that acts as an anti poison. If the levels of this enzyme are measured after being poisoned they would be high whereas when taking 7 dates daily for a month, the levels of this enzyme were found to decrease and return to normal, and if this is followed for a year no increase will result from being poisoned and this means that at that point the body is cured and protected against poisons.

For this reason, when the Prophet (PBUH) ate from the poisoned lamb in Khaibar -Allah told him that the shoulder part was poisoned- the prophet had the 7 dates that morning and so the poison did not affect him but was kept underneath the skin in the fat layer and the Prophet did a venesection (Hijama) to remove it.

TELEPATHY, a British scientific organisation researched the Hadith saying that the pressed dates are a cure from poison; research was also done in the King Fahd Ben Abd Alaaziz University and all experiments agreed with the Hadith.

Through some experiments conducted on humans, it was found that people who are exposed to poisons such as those who deal with lead in butteries industry and suffer from the problem of Cadmium, which is a heavy element and causes renal failure which results in various serious problems, can avoid that risk by taking 7 dates in the morning. For those who took the dates no detoxification elements were found in the liver and there is a 120 researches published on that.

In this same field the Jewish researcher Goldman found that 7 dried dates will make the heavy metals when inside the body form complexes some of which are kept beneath the skin and some get solvated and expelled in the excrement and urine. his operation is called detoxication or anti-poison which is done from pvessed date.

Concerning magic:

The Telepathy group, who publish its findings in a periodic named “Telepathy”, analysed the spectra of the digested pressed dates and found that it gives a blue colour which remains for 12 hours. They said also that the eye is the one which is bewitched, so magic is not a change in the nature of things but is a an imagination and the eye is what being bewitched exactly as Allah said in the Holy Koran: ( Said Moses: throw ye (first). So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic.) SURAH AL AL A`RAF (16).

And said about Moussa (Moses) (PBUH)

At last they found that the eye gets bewitched and that this magic force affects all the colours except blue, and so having 7 dates in the morning protects the person from magic and from envy... (3)

Life Obstacles.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Yesterday, Muja and I went to the Oasis for Oxygen therapy. Once we arrived there, we went straight into the chamber. While it was pressurising, Muja started to cry. I tried to settle her down but there was no sign that she will stop. Maybe her ears hurt because she has running nose and coughing since that morning. So we decided to cease the treatment for that day because next time she will associate that chamber with pain. Alhamdulillah.

On our way home the car engine made strange sounds when I pressed the acceleration. I have to push the acceleration harder and it makes louder sound. Before I was having a problem with the engine suddenly stop when I break. Alhamdulillah. So I have to take the car to the mechanic. It means that we need more money to spend on the repair. Allahu Akbar. What am I going to do?

Today we took the car to the mechanic and he said that the transmission needs to be repair. There is no power except with Allah. Where am I going to find $2500 for the second transmission or $4250 for the recondition one?

To repair the car is our priority because we need transport for Muja's treatments. I am going out at least three times each week for the treatments. Every week I need to take her for Oxygen therapy twice. Then she has one or two other treatment for homeopathic, acupuncture or osteopath. Sometime she needs to go to the hospital for her orthopaedic appointment or hip surveillance and review. Alhamdulillah her speech and physio therapies are home based so they come to us.

I have a big headache to think about this at the moment. Meanwhile I have to make du'a that Allah will make it easy for us going through this obstacle. Then I must put my trust in Allah, while working on how to get the money.

I am sad actually. We have that amount of money which we have been saving for our Hajj, Insha Allah this year. I am feeling disappointed if we have to use our Hajj saving money to repair the car and we have to cancelled our hajj this year.

I don't know what Allah plans for us. I make du'a that whatever His plan is, He will make us satisfy and thanking Him for it. I have to believe that the Hajj is not obligatory for us unless we are financially able to fulfil it.

O Allah! Help me to accept whatever is beyond my control as a test for me. Ameen.

Protesters want certainty for disability support

More than 70 people gathered in front of Parliament House today to protest a lack of concrete financial support for disabled services into the future.

Organisers say they want the Commonwealth to sign another disability funding agreement after the current agreement, which expired several months ago, was extended until December.

ACT head of People with Disabilities, Margot Hodge, says they have appealed for assistance from both the Federal Government and the Opposition in the lead-up to the election.

She says the Commonwealth usually signs up to a three- to five-year agreement, which the individual states and territories then match.

"A lot of people, particularly parents and ageing parents of people with intellectual disability, see that the Government have this excessive amount of extra money in the Budget," she said.

"They think that to support people who are vulnerable and people who need these services that some of that money should be spent."

She says the lack of a funding plan for future disability services is distressing to many families.

"Some of these people are probably in the situation where they've had to retire early to care for their adult child, so the financial strain is enormous," she said.

Sesungguhnya - Raihan

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Sebenarnya hati ini cinta kepada Mu
Sebenarnya diri ini rindu kepada Mu
Tapi aku tidak mengerti
Mengapa cinta masih tak hadir
Tapi aku tidak mengerti
Mengapa rindu belum berbunga

Sesungguhnya walau ku kutip
Semua permata di dasar lautan
Sesungguhnya walau ku siram
Dengan air hujan dari tujuh langit Mu
Namun cinta tak kan hadir
Namun rindu takkan ber bunga

Ku cuba menghulurkan
Sebuah hadiah kepada Mu
Tapi mungkin kerana isinya
Tidak sempurna tiada seri

Ku cuba menyiramnya
Agar tumbuh dan berbunga
Tapi mungkin kerana airnya
Tidak sesegar telaga kauthar

Sesungguhnya walau ku kutip
Semua permata di dasar lautan
Sesungguhnya walau ku siram
Dengan air hujan dari tujuh langit Mu
Namun cinta tak kan hadir
Namun rindu tak akan berbunga
Jika tidak mengharap rahmat Mu
Jika tidak menagih simpati
Pada Mu ya Allah

Tuhan hadiahkanlah kasih Mu kepadaku
Tuhan kurniakanlah rinduku kepada Mu
Moga ku tahu
Syukur ku hanyalah milik Mu

Disability advocacy group launches services plan

The leading national advocacy group, People With Disabilities, has launched a plan which it says will address better access to mainstream services and reduce the need for institutionalised care.

The plan was launched in Sydney last night.

Members of People with Disabilities expressed concern about a lack of dialogue with the Federal Government.

People with Disabilities' vice president Faye Druett says carers get plenty of attention at election time but the disabled community feels ignored.

The organisation says its new plan seeks to reverse diminished recognition of their rights.

The group says better access to mainstream services can mean the difference between a solitary life or a full life.

People With Disabilities say small changes to community services and accommodation will mean many of those confined to institutionalised care could be re-integrated into the community.

Special Needs Progress

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Teething.
Two night ago Muja didn't sleep well. Again she was teething. So that night and last night I have been staying up the whole night to be with her. I tried to put her to bed but she cried. She stopped crying when I hold her in sitting position. Her bibs and tops were soaking wet because she dribbled.

It was good in many ways because I have done so much things that nights. Likes praying, reciting Qur'an, preparing my daughters Ramadan learning activities for the next day and talking with my dear husband since he could not sleep as well that night because Muja was really loud. Alhamdulillah, I could also practise staying up late for Laylatul-Qadr.

Sometime I like to stay up late during Ramadan. I pray to Allah that He will give me an opportunity this Ramadan to stay up during the last ten days of Ramadan and especially on the night of Qadr devoting my worship on for His pleasures. Ameen

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
This week I went in the chamber with Muja for her oxygen therapy. We managed to do two treatments every week, usually on Monday and Friday morning. Alhamdulillah, I am so grateful for this treatment because her muscles was not as tight as before. Subhana Allah I love massaging her soft and relaxed muscles.

Oral Training
She does not mind if I brush her teeth now. But most importantly she does not mind food goes into her mouth. Alhamdulillah she could eat up to 20 teaspoons since the oxygen therapy compare to only 5 to 8 teaspoons before. Masha Allah! Masha Allah! Masha Allah! Make du'a for her that soon she could take off her nasogastric tube for feeding.

Cranio Osteopathy Appointment.
Last Saturday, Muja was seeing her osteopath for her treatment. This time I would like to post her photo in the treatment room with Ilana.

Standing Work Out
Her standing frame is going for a repair, so she practices standing with her walking frame. Her legs are more stronger than before. Although she loves standing her legs are still shaking occasionally.

Sleeping.
Her sleeping has improve but since she is teething it disturbs her sleeping and our sleeping too.

Study finds brain power better at night

An Adelaide University PhD student has found part of the brain which learns best at night.

Martin Sale has been named Young Scientist of the Year as part of National Science Week.

He was awarded the prize for his research which found that the cerebral cortex, the area of the brain which controls movement, is able to learn more effectively in the evening than in the morning.

Mr Sale says his findings could have implications for people who are recovering from brain injuries.

"[In] rehabilitation therapy for people who have had a stroke, for example, we can maybe identify a time of day when their brain is most receptive to therapy and they can potentially get better quicker," he said.

But Mr Sale says, before the research has practical application, more study is needed to understand why this part of the brain is more receptive at night.

"There are many hormones that fluctuate throughout the day and these can certainly have an effect on learning and memory," he said.

"We think possibly one, or a combination of these hormones, is influencing our results."

Sighting the Moon

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Below The Fatwa from Shaikh Ibn Uthaymeen(Saudi Arabia)
Sighting the Moon

Question: Should we fast and end our fast according to the sighting of the new moon in Saudi Arabia or should we do it according to the sighting of the new moon in the country where we are?

Response: There are as many as six different opinions amongst the scholars concerning this issue. However, there are two main points of view. The first is that everyone should sight the moon in their own country and those countries where the moon rises at the same time should follow them. The reason for this is that the time at which the moon rises, varies from place to place. The second opinion is that the beginning of the new month need only be confirmed in any one of the Muslim countries. If the sighting of the new moon is confirmed in any Muslim country, it is then obligatory for all Muslims to use that sighting to begin the fast of Ramadhaan or end it. According to this last opinion, if the new month is confirmed in Saudi Arabia it is obligatory upon all Muslims, in all parts of the world, to fast if it is the beginning of Ramadhaan and to end their fast if it is the beginning of Shawwaal. This is the most common opinion held by the followers of the madhhab of Imaam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal.

However, the first opinion is more correct because of the evidence in the Qur.aan, Sunnah and because of analogy. With regards to the Qur.aan, Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala) says:
{The month of Ramadaan in which was revealed the Qur.aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever witnesses the month should fast it...}, [Soorah al-Baqarah, Aayah 185].

This last sentence is a conditional sentence, and the ruling contained in a conditional sentence is established for whomever the condition applies to and it is annulled for anyone for whom the condition does not apply. So the sentence:
((Whoever witnesses the month should fast it)) implies that whoever does not witness it does not fast it.

It is well known amongst astronomers that the time the moon rises differs from place to place. The moon might be seen in one place and not in another. Therefore, according to the verse, whoever does not see it is not obliged to fast.

With regards to the Sunnah, the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) said:
((If you sight it (the new moon of Ramadaan), then fast and if you sight it (the new moon of Shawaal),then end the fast. And if it is obscured from you, then complete thirty days (of Sha'baan))).

He (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) said:
((If you sight it)). He therefore linked the ruling to the sighting and if a ruling is linked to an effective cause, then that ruling is annulled in the absence of that cause.

With regards to analogy, we say that in as much as the times for beginning the fast and breaking the fast every day vary from place to place so, in the same way, the times for the beginning and ending of the monthly fast also vary. We here in Riyadh, for example, begin our fast every day before the people in Al-Hijaaz and we also break our fast before they do. It is, therefore, obligatory upon us to start fasting while they are still eating. On the other hand, at the end of the day we are eating while they are still fasting. If, therefore, each place has its own ruling due to the variation in the time that the sun rises and sets, the same also applies due to the variation in the time that the moon rises and sets.

Therefore, the answer to the question is clear. It is obligatory for you to follow the sighting of the new moon in the place where you are.

Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

Last Friday, Muja began her Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy pressurised at 1.3 Atmospheres at Oasis Hyperbaric Therapy. She went into the chamber with my dear husband. The therapy takes one hours. The first time Muja in the chamber she was unsettled but after few minutes she felt asleep.

When the body is under pressure, the oxygen will dissolved in the blood so it can reach to the area which is difficult to reach. This will also increase the amount of oxygen to the tissues. Insha Allah, this treatment will help Muja improved her brain function and healing her brain injuries.

You can read more on how the therapy work here. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is proven effective in the treatment of Cerebral Palsy. Read the article here.

She needs this therapy frequently like three times or more a week. At the moments she is doing it for two times a week and Insha Allah with some help from friends (financial helps) she can do it regularly. Masha Allah, after two treatments I can see her improvements already. She sleeps better at night, her muscles are not so stiff, her fingers are not fisted as much as before, she takes more food orally, she can hold her head up longer, she smiles a lot and more alerts. Allahu Akbar. The is no power except with Allah.

Disabled girl is frozen in time

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

News.com.au

By Chris Ayres in Los Angeles

January 05, 2007 12:00am

Article from: The Australian

HER name is Ashley X, and she is a little girl who will never grow up.

Until New Year's Day, not even her first name was known. Ashley was a faceless case study, cited in a paper by two doctors at Seattle Children's Hospital as they outlined a treatment so radical it brought allegations of eugenics, of creating a 21st-century Frankenstein's monster, of maiming a child for the sake of convenience.

The reason for the controversy is this: three years ago, when Ashley began to display early signs of puberty, her parents told doctors to remove her uterus, appendix and still-forming breasts, then treat her with high doses of oestrogen to stunt her growth.

In other words, Ashley was sterilised and frozen in time, for ever to remain a child. She was six.

Ashley, daughter of two professionals in the Seattle area, never had much hope of a normal life.

Afflicted with a severe brain impairment known as static encephalopathy, she cannot walk, talk, keep her head up in bed or even swallow food. Her parents argued that keeping her small was the best way to improve the quality of her life, not to make life more convenient for them.

Because of her small size, the parents say, Ashley will receive more care from people who will be able to carry her: "Ashley will be moved and taken on trips more frequently and will have more exposure to activities and social gatherings ... instead of lying down in her bed staring at TV all day long."

By remaining a child, they say, Ashley will have a better chance of avoiding everything from bed sores to pneumonia - and the removal of her uterus means she will never have a menstrual cycle or risk developing uterine cancer.

Because Ashley was expected to have a large chest size, her parents say removing her breast buds, including the milk glands (while keeping the nipples intact), will save her further discomfort while avoiding fibrocystic growth and breast cancer. They also feared that large breasts could put Ashley at risk of sexual assault.

The case was approved by the hospital's ethics committee in 2004, which agreed that because Ashley could never reproduce voluntarily she was not being subjected to forced sterilisation, a form of racial cleansing promoted in the 1920s and known as eugenics. However, the case of Ashley X was not made public, and as a result no legal challenges were made.

Ashley's doctors, Daniel Gunther and Douglas Diekema, wrote in their paper for the October issue of the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine that the treatment would "remove one of the major obstacles to family care and might extend the time that parents with the ability, resources and inclination to care for their child at home might be able to do so".

The paper inspired hundreds of internet postings: many supportive, some furious. "I find this offensive if not perverse," read one. "Truly a milestone in our convenience-minded society."

It was the critical comments that finally provoked Ashley's father to respond. While remaining anonymous, he posted a remarkable 9000-word blog entry at 11pm on New Year's Day, justifying his decision.

The posting includes links to photographs of Ashley, in which the faces of other family members, including her younger sister and brother, have been blanked out. "Some question how God might view this treatment," he wrote. "The God we know wants Ashley to have a good quality of life and wants her parents to be diligent about using every resource at their disposal ... to maximise her quality of life."

Ashley's father went on to describe how her height is now expected to remain at about 1.3m and her weight at 34kg.

The medical profession is divided. "I think most people, when they hear of this, would say this is just plain wrong," wrote Jeffrey Brosco, of the University of Miami. "It is a complicated story ... (But) high-dose oestrogen therapy to prevent out-of-home placement simply creates a new Sophie's Choice for parents to confront.

"If we as a society want to revise the nature of the harrowing predicament that these parents face, then more funds for home-based services, not more medication, is what is called for."
